New Dessert Parlour And Café Opens At Greenock Regeneration Project
A new high-quality dessert parlour, with sit in facility, has opened at Burns Cottage in Greenock, as part of the transformation of the former Melrose Bar.
Oh My Days Desserts has undergone a renovation, worth over £100,000, following Inverclyde Council’s approval to the change of use and development in October 2020.
Based at 146 Old Inverkip Road, the dessert parlour is the brainchild of Shoaib Shafaatulla, who runs a successful property portfolio across Glasgow and has recently invested in other properties in Inverclyde.
With a rock and Queen band theme throughout, including a stunning mural of lead singer Freddie Mercury, the business caters for all ages and sweet tooths with a wide range of ice creams, other desserts, and refreshments.
Operating seven days a week from 16:00 – 23:00, the new business officially opened on Friday 5th November, following a private opening for business associates, friends and family.
A new shopfront has been installed for the takeaway element on Inverkip Road, with the sit-in entrance at the side of the building on Old Inverkip Road.
Speaking of the new venture, Shoaib said:
“We are delighted to have completed the renovation of this property and to open the new dessert parlour which has been a long-term aim of ours.
“There has been considerable investment poured into this property to provide the best dessert experience in the west of Scotland. Everyone involved, from our landlord to our architect, worked together as a team to create this fantastic venue.
“The final product shows that all of the hard work and patience required to get to being operational has been worth it.
“Inverclyde has a huge amount of potential and we have continued to invest strategically into the local market and continue to look at other opportunities.”
Gourock-based commercial property agency, Bowman Rebecchi supported the letting of the property, with Rebecchi Architectural also supporting Oh My Days with its planning application and building warrant.
Marco Rebecchi, Director of Rebecchi Architectural and Bowman Rebecchi said:
“This is a superb addition to Inverclyde, and I think visitors will be hugely impressed by the quality of both the café, the desserts on offer and the overall refurbishment.
“Prior to the works, this was a mixture of vacant property and under-utilised space, so it is great to see the overall vision come to life.
“This is another great example of property owners using our wide range of services to support their project aims and we would like to wish Shoaib and his team every success.”
